Airborne Flying Service - Airborne Maintenance provides both airframe and turbine maintenance for fixed wing aircraft.
The turbines team has extensive experience in Pratt & Whitney PT6 engine repairs, inspections and hot sections. Whether going to customer locations or working in Hot Springs, they are strong in identifying the issues, working a plan with the customer and getting the repairs taken care of quickly.
Our team altogether has over 150 years of combined aviation maintenance experience with most aircraft manufactures. This is including but not limited to Beechcraft, Cessna, Maule, Mooney and Piper single and twin piston and turbine powered aircraft.

We create quality transportation through disciplined adherence to a quality assurance process: We document our standards via policies and procedures in our manuals. We educate and train all personnel to the standards. We operate daily to the standards. We rigorously measure and monitor our performance against the standards. As deficiencies are revealed by measurements, we develop remedies to manage the risks. We then incorporate the remedies into the standards in our manuals. We repeat the quality assurance process continuously.
We achieve prevention by systematically managing risks: by the way we organize, educate, train, and especially the way we continuously communicate amongst ourselves up, down and between sectors of the company.
Risk management guides our culture and keeps us safe, so we can pursue quality. Every employee is not just allowed, but expected, to point out unsafe situations. They are further expected to intervene as appropriate to correct any unsafe situation, thus preventing the disruptions of damage or injury. Better to pause and correct than continue at unsafe risk levels and fail.
We recognize that aviation, like medicine, is a high consequence business, wherein the wrong mistake at the wrong time can be catastrophic. Therefore, we emphasize throughout the company that we cannot sustain a quality product without safety; safety is a pass-fail item and there is no in-between. Damage to equipment or injury to people stops a process, and therefore must be prevented; otherwise our process ultimately fails.
We have a lot of high priorities, such as cost control and resource management, but safety and quality come first. We rely on our risk management and quality assurance systems to keep our mistakes small enough and far enough apart that all of our people see the positive results and proudly produce excellence in everything we do.

Airborne Air Ambulance, a dba of Airborne Flying Service, Inc. (AFS), operates out of Garland County, Arkansas. We have been fully qualified to perform Fixed Wing Air Ambulance missions by the Arkansas Department of Health since October 8, 1997. We provide air charter services from Hot Springs and support several Fixed Wing Air Ambulance providers licensed in Arkansas.

Our FAA-certified pilots and aircraft have safely delivered thousands of patients to their medical flight destinations.
Airborne Air Ambulance maintains its unblemished record with rigorous equipment maintenance, personnel certification and advanced training. Every flight is meticulously reviewed from both a medical and an aviation safety standpoint. The medical decisions include specific evaluations regarding basic, advanced or critical life support equipment and services.

Malcolm B. “Mac” Armstrong, Lt. Gen, USAF (Retired)
Chairman of the Board
Mac Armstrong is a Principal of Blue Water Solutions, Inc.(BWS), and former President of Airborne Flying Service, Inc. which is owned by BWS. He is a retired US Air Force Lt. General who served as the Senior Vice President-Operations at the Air Transport Association of America, overseeing that organization’s heavy concentration on safety and regulatory compliance. As chairman of the Commercial Aviation Safety Team, he led the airline industry's response to the White House Commission goal of reducing airline accidents 80% by 2007, in which a reduction of 74% was in place by his retirement in mid-2003. The goal was soon completed and surpassed through the rigorous process improvements that had been devised and implemented by the major US airlines, under his disciplined leadership. Prior to that duty, he served as Executive Vice President-Operations at Delta Air Lines. He also served as Vice President of Safety and Regulatory Compliance at Delta and at US Airways.
Mac has a MS in Business Administration from Auburn University and a BS in General Studies/Geology from Louisiana State University.
C. Wayne Lyle, M.D.
President of Airborne Flying Service and Medical Director of Airborne Air Ambulance
Dr. Lyle is the President of Airborne Flying Service and has been the Medical Director of Airborne Air Ambulance since 2008.
He is also an Emergency Department Physician at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and is the Medical Director for Baptist MedFlight.
Dr. Lyle has pilot certificates including commercial pilot for single and multi-engine airplanes, instrument pilot, flight instructor, instrument flight instructor and ground instructor.
Dr. Lyle earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine, his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University and his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Southern Arkansas University.
JB Kirk, Ph.D. P.E.
Business Manager
JB Kirk is an insightful, results-driven executive who has held multiple operations management assignments at both American and Delta Air Lines during 12 years of service. Over the last 10 years, he has served as a strategic advisor to senior executives at commerical airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and repair stations.
JB is also the Principal and Founder of Blue Water Solutions, a consulting firm which deploys former executives and subject matter experts alongside niche service and technology providers using well-defined processes and technologies to complete assignments across a broad spectrum of operations disciplines. BWS customers are aircraft manufacturers, major and regional airlines, repair stations, technology providers, as well as private equity firms.
JB has a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Colorado School of Mines, a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute
